hi there

i wonder if anyone can help. over the last 2 days i feel as if i always need to pee. it started yesterday and has got more frequent today - i have been to the loo about 15-20 times today! it doesnt hurt at all though when pee. i have started to drink a lot of water so there is always something that comes out - even before all the water there was always a trickle. after i go to the loo i feel pressure down below and feel the need to go again even if i dont need to if you know what i mean. the pressure lasts a few seconds then stops - then i feel i need to go again a few minutes later

i went to the doctors this evening and he did a dip test and it was all clear (i.e. no sign of infection, blood sugar issues). i am on holiday on sunday. he has given me anti-bi's just in case it starts hurting but otherwise he says i need to wait unitl i get back.

has anyone got any ideas?

thanks

Get some uva-ursi from your health food store.

It's generally infection. My tests came back negative as well, but I still ended up with an infection which found its way up to my kidneys.

It happened again a few weeks ago and again started to go onto my kidneys. I tested my urine at work, but it was negative, so you can't always rely on the tests.

The girl in the health food store sold me some uva ursi drops and within a few hours I'd stopped peeing so often and over the course of the next few days, things went back to normal. I also gave some to one of my colleagues who's having similiar problems and it got rid of her infection as well.

I prevent it happening again by taking cranberry capsules, uva ursi twice a day, d-mannose and probiotics. You need to drink heaps of water as well and try to stay away from too much tea, coffee and alcohol.

I told the doctor about the recurring problems yesterday, but she didn't come up with many answers as to why it's happening Confused

Try to get some uva ursi though, it's great. I use the Vogel brand which is very good.

If it doesn't clear up rapidly, go to see your GP.

It could be a symptom of diabetes.

Sorry, just realised my post wasn't terribly helpful (only noticed when scrolling back up that you'd already been).

Is the a devastating new (large) man in your life?

Or could it be an irritation (new washing powder?)

Prolapse is another option and getting older means that things change in that area, so you need to start 'nursing' it (the bladder) a bit more.

p.s. not a new man in my life (just DP!) and the same washing powder as usual.

I frequently get urine infections, had 4 last year in the space of months, syptoms are usually pressure like feeling, needing to pee constantly or cramps! sometimes a bit of blood, can mean kidney infection or what not, i drink at least 250ml of cranberry light a day, apparently the lighter stuff is better, less sugar which helps to not encourage it! If in doubt call NHS direct? Anti b's can take a bit to work if it is an infection anyhoo, sometimes you need to try another before it finally shifts!

the blood appears to be coming out after i pee rather than in the pee its self...sorry if tmi!

sending dp down to the shop for cranberry juice...not near a chemists to get herbal stuff.

I've been getting this more frequently over the last 6 mnths or so. Is definitely cyclical and related to periods. I have the mirena and have wondered if it might be anything to do with this. Haven't been to docs because it always clears up before I manage to get an appointment!

if i was you I would keep off the cranberry for now- it is very acidic and may well make you worse.
cranberry is fine for prevention but not while you have an attack.

best also to avoid all tea, coffee, juices, and alcohol.
you need to treat your bladder kindly and try to get the lining to calm down.

have a look and read of this site

Do you feel healthy otherwise or do you have other symptoms like feeling tired/diarrhoea etc?

Testbunny I have similar symptoms to you and have literally just come back from the doctor and thought to post on here... my dipstick test was all clear, I also constantly (I mean constantly to the point I thought I would wet myself yesterday waiting in a queue to use the work loo) need to wee and have pain in my lower tummy/groin area. I have no blood though.

Doctor has sent the sample off for further tests but she thought it might be overactive bladder which is a lifestyle-control and bladder training thing (oh joys).

She said to drink lots of plain still water at room temperature and avoid alcohol, caffeine and strongly-flavoured foods.

Hope you're ok, the blood sounds a bit kidney stone-y??

Can get viral versions of utis which I don't think would show on dip test.

I had constant feeling of a uti but no infection and was definitely my mirena causing it. Had mirena taken out after a year of putting up with it and the problem went immediately after that!
