can't get rid of babies thrush

my 10 week old dd has thursh on her tongue

3 tube of daktarin gel later and its still thickly coated. the tip of her tongue has cleared a little, probably because my finger can only go so far into her mouth without her gagging, and she sucks then swallows the rest.

my HV assurs me that all babies swallow it yet it seems to clear their tongues so has refered me to GP incase more sinister???

what could be happening? is there anything better than daktarin gel?
She had nystatin suspension for a day or 2 but i stopped this on HV advice who said persevere with the gel as this is more effective (apparently not).

really anxious now since her tongue is snow white! any tips. i am mix feeding (breast occasionally, but mainly bottle), but now intend to just bottle feed to prevent cross contamination.

pls help!!!

Are you treating yourself? Please don't give up breast because of this. It's very simple to treat yourself, you just have to apply the cream to your nipples as well. I think it's the same cream as you use on the baby, but it's so long ago now that I don't remember.

Talk to your HV again. Perhaps she didn't realise that you are bfing as well, so didn'ttell you that you should be treated at the same time.

Our dd had thrush from about 3 days, and we were advised by midwife to get a perscription off the doctor. Its some sort of liquid, and it comes with a syringe. It has gone completely after 3 or 4 days of treatment, but we need to finish the course to ensure it doesnt come back!!

GP did a swab a week ago following giving me a nystatin prescription. the "thrush has cleared a lot but not totally". Swab results came back normal...what does this mean?

definete improvment in thickness of whit stuff on dds tongue following 'treatment' but no yeast infection detected in labs? mistake in labs perhaps??
