What helps you not to go down the PMT slope?

Must have a memory like a sieve. Seems like every month I think DP and I are fundamentally unsuited and my dirty kitchen floor is a metaphor for my own failure as a human being. Then I come on, and become reasonably sane. Have just clicked that I might have PMT, which I didn't really suffer from before DD (nearly 2). What are the gentle, lovely supplement style things that a lady takes to stop her foaming at the mouth for what feels like about 10 days out of 28?

PMT, love it, can think about all the horrible things I'd like to happen to all the people who've ever wronged me, knowing I "can't help it" beacuse "its my hormones" and then not ever do them because I feel normal before I can put them into action.

Ha ha, this is a funny thread! I get it too and pregnancy for me is like 9 month's worth of PMT all at once. Oh my, dp's been having a lovely time since March (when I got pregnant), poor bloke... IKWYM Toots, for me it felt like the sun coming out after a thunderstorm once my period started. I can't say I've ever taken anything to make it better though and I do think it got worse after ds. I've got a book somewhere called Beat PMT or something. If I can find it I'll post some top tips.

evening primrose is good but I also forget to take it and when the black fog decends there is no stopping it - last week I wanted a divorce because I hated my in-laws, also thought might kill dh and hide him under the patio, I didn't think anyone would notice its always been abit wobbly - this week I feel slightly more reasonable! dh has alot to put up with but I just remind him when the 3 dd's are of an age how fun will life be then, him and ds have said that they will move into the garage 1 week in 4.

Vitamin B6 is supposed to work - one of my (childless!) friends swears by it BUT pregnancy has made mine worse. Apologies in advance to anyone who comes within a ten-mile radius of me during the last week in the month..

On a slightly different subject, while my PMT is as bad as it was before baby, I seem to have reverted to 13 year old when it comes to managing my period. I can't believe that I have simply forgotten how to use sanitary protection just because I had one year off. Is it possible that the flow or my body is different now?

How odd Fisil, so have I! Keep forgetting to take tampons out, forgetting when my period is so forgetting to have any with me etc.

Luckily I only get pmt every few months but I am so unspeakable when I do.

Think I may have it early now (3 weeks early) as have just bitten dh's head off on the phone. Whoops.

IMO it helps if dp REFRAINS from pointing out one is being perchance a touch hormonal...ditto in pregnancy...

I have had terrible PMT the last few days, it is much worse since having kids, I was completely unreasonable yesterday but feel miles better today (although no period yet). Like SamboM I don't get it every month which is strange. If it is a PMT month I also get PMC (Pre-Menstral Cleaning) which is a benefit, got the cooker cleaned this time round!

I have just come to and everyone, I am happy to say is relatively un harmed. I too suffer from the dreaded PMT. It amazes me, I am 42 so I have had many periods and it still catches me unawares evry month!
I have to say though that about twice a year i have a period (before and after) that completely floors me. Just as I am about to call my dh, ds, mil, fil and sil to tell them exactly what I think of them, the penny drops. Thank God! I almost cancelled our holiday last week.
Mine has definately got worse since the birth of ds, 3.
This thread has made me laugh so much as I have also forgotten how to deal with a period. I was in a training session this moring with toilet roll in my knickers, what joy!
