I am a regular poster, but ther is noo way I am putting my name to this post
Basically, I am having a lot of pain when I wee. I had a nasty bout of cystitis (sp?) at the weekend, but it cleared up within a couple of hours of drinking pints and pints of water. (I think this was brought on by seeing my dp for the first time in a week IYKWIM ) But I still have a funny, burning feeling when I've finished having a wee, it almost feels like somethings blocking it, IYSWIM, and all the wee can't get out. I am thinking of going to the doctor tomorrow, but how likely are they to do an internal, as this is one of my huge fears I have also noticed that when I walk I have a terrible sensation that I need to go STRAIGHT AWAY, even though I've just gone. Will this clear up on its own or do I need to go to the doctor? It really is very uncomfortable.

sounds like cystitis hasnt completely cleared and you may now have an infection - i would assume by describing the symptoms the doc wouldnt need to do an internal.

you may need to wee in a pot - but sounds like you either still have cystitis or you have an infection. Feel for you is absolutely hideous - go doctor asap - and buy cystitis relief sachets and cranberry juice.

It may be a urinary tract infection, please seek medical advice asap. Do not leave this in the hope it will go away because it won't and you could end up with it affecting your kidneys. Antibiotics are usually given in such cases and many UTI's do clear completely with antibiotics. You will in all likelihood need to give a urine sample.

definitely sounds like a UTI

drinking tons of water may have made it feel like it had cleared up simply because you were diluting your wee so much!

Erm, what's so embarrassing about having a UTI? It happens to most women at some point in their lives as a result of the anatomy of the bladder and urethra.

Understand the fear of internals BTW, but Dr. won't need to do one. Will probably ask you for a urine sample and give you antibiotics.

I am the queen of cystitis having had it countless times before I needed an emergency kidney op. I agree with everyone else that it sounds as though you did not clear the infection at the w/e. You won't need an internal - just go to the GP and get antibiotics. Take a wee sample with you.
