We are escaping for a weekend away without the kids at beginning June. Barcelona pretty much matches the description of what we're looking for...sun, some culture, nice bars, great hotels, sea, beautiful views...but I have been several times before and would like to go somewhere different. Any suggestions gratefully received - thank you
Valencia is fab, like Palma (majorca) too.

I love Madrid. Food, drink, museums. June will be hot.
Also fancy Valencia after seeing on tv. Bit like Madrid but on the coast??
Lisbon?

Stockholm is lovely for a weekend break and has everything you've asked for.

Yes, Valencia, definitely. Similar to Barcelona but without the crowds and the pickpockets.
Madrid could be too hot in June, there isn't really anywhere to go to cool down.

Palma. Funky yet expensive and classy
Valencia felt too spread out for me. Expensive
Copenhagen! It has the same feel as Barcelona - coastal city with beaches, lots of foodie scene restaurants, thriving bar scene, good metro system, plenty of art and culture, both have permanent retro amusement parks, and both have a quite a distinctive personality.
Seville. Less, er, adventurous than Naples.

Arf @ Naples, I blithely pranced round Naples when I was 18 but I wasn't worth mugging. It is a great city but yes quite seedy.

Nice is great for art and strolling, stony beach though. Agree Seville feels civilized and relaxed.
Prague. Lots of history, atmosphere too.

Lisbon is fantastic, that is where I would go if I were in the market for a kid free city break. Oporto is also amazingly nice.
Stockholm I love but it WILL piss it down, and if you are going Nordic and accepting the weather why not Helsinki?
