Hi, I have dual nationality (UK and Australian) and I am due to fly to Australia end March, returning mid-April 2013.

My British passport expires early October 2013 (just under six month's left at the time I'll be re-entering the UK).

I will only be using my British passport to re-enter Britain upon my return (I'll be using my Australian passport to enter Australia).

Do I need six month's validity to re-enter Britain on my British passport?

No.

The passport shows you are a British citizen and therefore have the right to be here. How long before renewal is required is irrelevant icw presence in UK as holding a passport is not a requirement in Britain.

For peace of mind, why not renew your British passport before you go? You can renew up to 9 months in advance and the new one will have the extra months validity.

Thanks!
