.... for 3/4 nights in August. Anyone know of anywhere for family of 3 (2 adults, 1 12yo DS). Would be up for house swap, student exchange or any other creative way of offsetting the cost............

Try holiday lettings or owners direct web sites. Both good for short term lets. Alternatively try googling house swap - for lots of websites that organise this.
