I've realised the problem why I thought the files were still downloading and taking ages was that they'd actually downloaded but then went on to upload back to other people on the internet.

So I've saved the .nds files of the different games in a folder. I have my R4 card and a micro memory stick thing. I've watched a tutorial on YouTube.

I put the micro memory stick in the laptop, I send the .nds files to the memory stick. I've removed the memory stick and put the tiny square bit in the R4 card and placed R4 card in DS. I then just get a black screen that says "Loading". Never goes any further.

What with this and the new format I am in a very bad mood today.

Have you actually loaded the files such as 'games' onto the memory card. That is first step. You need to make a folder called 'games' on the card. Here is a foolproof guide :

Ok, I've watched that clip. I don't have a disc with my R4 card. So I found another tutorial that said "R4 without the disc". I watched that and it recommended a website - but that website is down.

So I googled R4 downloads and found a site that said I needed to download a Firmware file. I did this and it still doesn't work......

DH is laughing at me getting confused by 8 year olds doing tutorials on You Tube!

this might be the R4 version.

I was told you have to put the files onto the memory card and then add a folder called "games" into which the games were put.

SoupDragon - thats the kernal that I've found and done already.

Now I haven't done a folder called games so will attempt to do that and see if it works......

I had this.

Because I had an SDHC card you need 5 files in the firmware, not the 4 that are usually available.

You need to make sure you have downloaded the following files:

system folder
moonshl folder
DS MENU dat file
DS MENU configuration settings
DS MSHL.NDS nds file

Make sure you download R4 English version 1.22 containing ALL those files or it won't work if you have an SDHC card.

A really dense question.

What games are on these downloads? Do you download one game at a time?

Oh great glad it worked!

It drove me bananas when I got the card, I spent a whole evening trying to do it and getting crosser and crosser. Thank god for Google; I found a forum explaining about the SDHC/5 files thing!

DHWT - you can download games for the DS from sites, one game at a time.

How much do they cost?

The games are free to download.

You need an R4 card with a micro SD card. It cost me £20 for the R4, the SD card and a memory stick with an SD adapter. I got it from a website called memorybits.co.uk

So far I've put about 6 games on it.

And you can get just about every DS game under the sun.

"The games are free to download" because it isn't legal. You do need to be aware of that
