I've registered it etc but can't get it to sync. Have also managed to lose most of the music on my other pod when i transfered them back to computer. Any ideas? And is it just me that thinks i-tunes is one of the most un user friendly sites ever?

I am sitting here feeling an idiot as we bought our daughter a nano and I haven`t got a clue what to do with it! Her Dad is in bed poorly and I have it plugged into the computer and it says it is charging. I think I have downloaded i-tunes.............then what do I do? Instruction leaflet very vague. How does she download her own stuff onto it, without paying for i-tunes? Thanking who-ever in hopeful anticipation!

Firstly, make sure iTunes is installed properly.

...when you downloaded it, probably an icon appeared entitled iTunes that shows a partially opened box. To fully install iTunes you will need to click on this box and follow the instructions. There will be a screen asking you to set up a store account and to give credit card details. You can skip these if you wish, and return to them later.

Once iTunes is functioning you need to put music onto it. If there is music elsewhere on your computer I think iTunes discovers it on set up. In addition you can click on File, then select Add to library from the drop down menu to add anything else that is already there.

If you wish to load music from CDs, just put them in the drive. The titles and artwork will be added automatically from the interweb. Just click on the button that asks if want to add the CD and it will happen.

...then just plug in the nano and follow on screen instructions. There are lots of different ways to organise music and video, but the iPod will just download the lot until such a time as the amount of media you have to download exceeds the capacity of the iPod, which if you are starting from scratch will take a while, unless you are filling it with feature films!
