Can I put an icon for Hotmail on my computer screen instead of having to go through google to find hotmail each time?

In the easiest non-geeky terminology possible

It should be on your computer if you use MSN
Messenger.

Save it in your favourites (have you a yellow star in top left corner?) or set it as your homepage (when you have the page open, click on tools, internet options, general tab, set current page as home page)

No there is no MSN messenger.
I have been showing someone how to email and I set them up with a hotmail address. He is doing well but elderly and I am just trying to make it as easy as possible for him to log on to email each time.
I just thought it might be easier to have an icon on the desk top.
But then realised he'd have to access it through the internet whereas when you see your icons you are not on the internet iyswim.
He uses his sons computer so I don't think son would be too happy if dad changed the homepage to suit his hotmail.
Apart from saving as a favourite (opening favourites and finding it will be something else for him to remember how to do) is there no other way round it apart from googling?
He is quite happy now he has got the hang of it via google, but as he is a bit blinded by all the technology I was just looking for a 'one click' way of getting on to it.

Chippy - to save as a favourite am I right in thinking that he has to log on to internet for favourites to show up?
If I am adding it onto favourites do I need to go to the hotmail home page and then click on 'add to favourites' ?
(durrrrrrrrr

Then type www.hotmail.com in there, click next a few times

Make it your homepage.

That will put a shortcut to the hotmail webpage, I assume in whatever browser you use, tho I've only ever tried it using IE

yes and yes

You can have more than one homepage too in ..hmm no idea what version of IE its is - the one that has tabs? Each tab opens a different homepage.

Thanks Stealthpb, I just practised that on my own desktop and it took me straight to the log in page for his email. So I'll set that up on his laptop tomorrow.
Foofi - its not my hotmail or my pc, his son wouldn't want the homepage changing, and chippy - more than one homepage would blow my his brain at the mo!
He's doing really well with his emailing I just wanted to make the logging on a bit more straightforward.
Thanks peeps

Easiest way to do it is to get to the inbox (with the window smaller than the desktop) & then just drag the icon in the address bar to the desktop
