Avast? I think my DP has just installed that one on our lap top but I have no idea about these things or whether it is any good or not but an IT guy recommended it to him!

AVG and Avira are both good. And ZoneAlarm for your firewall.

I have just switched to McAfee after my Norton was corrupted and resulted in 187 trojen horse viruses

Norton is dreadful isn't it? I've heard it's difficult to get rid of once you install it too!

This may be a very stupid question, but what use is anti-virus software that gets corrupted by a virus? I use AVG free edition. Hope it's good.

On the Gadget Show recently they had an, erm, gadget which was basically another whole computer in a stick that ran the whole security thing so your actual computer wouldn't be recognised. Sounds promising but no farkin idea what it was called or how it works.

WilfSell, something like anonymous surfing? Software that lets you take on numerous random ip addresses so you never leave a trail and cant be pinned down?

I like the look of the yoggi dongle. I suppose dh will just end up downloading one for free though.
