You should be able to do

"Select all"
"Mark as read"

How you do this depends on your email client. In Outlook Ctrl+A, Ctrl+Q are the keyboard shortcuts IIRC

I would look for ones from people you know.

My BF from school was looking for me for about 2 years but I so rarely checked my email it went dormant.
