Why is the computer making odd noises???

It sounds like a car engine running! H only cleaned the fan/sorted it out last weekend......it's not dying on me is it?

Could be the fan

but you can get that replaced usually

actually it's finally just opened - nothing in their either....

How much do fans cost to replace? And will it still work if I don't replace it for a while?

Fans are cheap - perhaps £5

If you mean the case fan you may get away without it for a time if you don't have a lot of addons in the case to make it hot.

If the processor fan stops you could ruin the processor in seconds. Run the computer with the side off and see if you can tell where the noise is coming from. Sometimes a cable can fall against the fan and cause that racket.

Sometimes there is a fan on the motherboard or graphics card too.

A hard drive can make noises if it's failing, but it's much more likely to be the fan.

Oh and I've just been reminded that Of course the PSU (power supply unit) has a fan too. Usually round the back at the top.
