please stay and share before I am bald!

Server and docs all set up but need help with html code for sending and receiving the form to and from the server and cgi-bin so request come back via email to me.

I have read that formMail. cgi scripts are rubbish due to hackers and spammers.

Do Fasthost not provide a mailer script or do you have a hankering to create one yourself?

If you've got a hosting package with PHP available then it's pretty easy to create a page that will take the contents of a form then email it off to you - there's a handy class called phpmailer that does most of the hard work for you..

..might be slow in responding as I'm up to my eyes in code...

Wotz, how are you with PHP? There is a great article on secure PHP contact forms on Digital Web. I'm not a programmer (although I do quite a bit of front-end code) and managed to get this to work. You do have to do the thing it says about checking the referring URL though as otherwise the email it's posting to gets picked up by spammers (sigh).

Thanks Flossie

Fasthost put me on hold and then cut me off...I am after 45 mins on the support line.

I will have a look.

Do the php files have to sit anywhere in the server (ie cgi-bin) etc?

No Lapin, thanks for asking.
I gave up and worked on something else. However, DH has found me another website to have a look at for tomorrow for 'Form to mail' script using JMail" as we are using a windows server.

I have at least 6 more strands of hair to pull before I am completely bald.

But my code skills are more secondary school level than employment level.
