Windows taskbar width!

Sorry, I know this is really really trivial, but it's really bugging me.

A few weeks ago I did something weird to my screen, and since then the frames of pages don't fit right, they're a bit too big. For instance, the red cross to close a window is off the edge of the screen. And it's the same for the task bar at the bottom, the clock is just off the edge and I keep being late .

I've looked at everything I can think of to adjust it, but nothing works. Please help me!

Are you on a PC? Does your screen have a bunch of tiny function buttons at the bottom? If you muck around with these, you can make your viewable screen too large for your actual screen IYSWIM, offset to the right etc ... I have had to fix loads of these where people have been "playing with the buttons"

Yes, I'm on a PC, but there aren't loads of buttons. From the left, there's the green Start box, then windows for whatever's open (you know, email, mumsnet, mumsnet...) then a gap, then a google search box, a little down arrow and a square both of which take you to Google desktop, Norton green tick box then there are some shortcuts to applications and the clock (which is off the edge). That's it.

It was a while ago now, but I think my hand slipped and I clicked somewhere I shouldn't and since then they've been all wrong and I can't put it back. Really, this is very pathetic! Can you help?

the small rabbit I think meant buttons on the actual monitor not ones you can see on the screen that are put there by your computer. The carrot eating one is almost certainly right in implying you've been fiddling with your buttons...
