Anyone know anything about mobile phone sim cards?

Needing advice!
I have an old pre-pay mobile phone and tis time to get a new one. Anyone know if I can keep the same phone number by re-using the sim card? I would be OK with staying on Orange prepay, but my old phone does not have much memory and the clock keeps going wrong. Does that mean I need a new sim card that the number changes?

You can use the same sim card but only on an orange phone, unless you buy a new phone and get it unblocked.

Thanks louii.
Anyone know if a new phone could magically have more memory for texts and phone book, and have a clock that works, or is that part of my crummy old sim card?

The phone will have an address book for numbers and a memory for texts in addition to the memory on the SIM card. You can opt to keep your contacts on either or both the card and phone. Really depends on the phone you want to buy though. You should be able to pick up a reasonably-cheap handset from Argos if you don't want the latest model. I often buy a pre-pay phone, ditch the SIM card and just use the handset with my old SIM .
