Is there such a thing as a replacement screen for iPads??

Is it worthwhile attempting a repair?

DS2 dropped his iPad so awkwardly from about 6 in on to carpeted floor that the corner cracked and there's a crack along the diagonal of the whole screen.

Any experiences?

I've replace my own iphone screen, it's a very fiddly job. I took apart my phone and a did one we had lying about and swaped the screen.

You can buy replacement screens (but not official ones from apple) and a quality set of tools is very helpful (gadgety family so we have them). Or you could just have a shop repair it, apple will replace it with a refub or other shops will replace the screen (with mixed results).

Timpsons Shoe Repairs do iPad screen repairs. Costs about £99.

Oh, wow, thanks! Thanks

We seem to have found a place that will do it for £100.
Or the neighbour of a friend's friend can do it for £75 Grin - methinks, not.

Timpsons? Really?! How fascinating.

Yes, try the independent repair shops. Got ours repaired for £70 at a local phone shop after DS bit it Confused and cracked the screen.
DH googled replacing it himself having replaced iPhone screens previously but considered it to be too fiddly in comparison
