I'd like to give dd1 an mp3 player for her upcoming 11th birthday. I have an E series Walkman and I'm happy with it except for the inability to properly turn it off (only takes a bump on the control pad to turn it back on). Are there others that are worth looking at? I like the idea of a small screen for ease of navigating through music but I'm not interested in anything that's also useful for watching media, as I don't want her glued to a screen all day. No phones until she has a job and can pay for it herself!

Philips Go Gear.

Got a basic one for dd when she was that age, she still uses it now. Dp and I have the more snazzy version. DD's was about £18 and ours were about £40. Check ebay for the Argos shop outlet on there.

Argos don't ship here (not in the UK) and local options are limited. I like the look of it though so I might have to get one from Amazon and just suck up the postage cost.
