canon image garden taking over my computer!

I should say I am completely computer illiterate but this is driving me mad.
I am trying to upload summer pics to snap fish to order prints. I transferred images from camera and phone to computer but some have gone to pictures file (which I can upload) but others have gone into canon image garden. They won't upload to snap fish and I can't copy to a windows pic file. I tried to transfer images from camera again but the computer didn't register the device.
Does it sound like picture transfer default is set to put them in image garden and if so how do I change it.
Please help before I tear all my hair out!
