Grrr - Adware. Can anyone help?

I can't get rid of adware on my desktop.

I've identified four programs - Bocarunner, SeekerFunc, SystemVisual and TrimModule. I couldn't uninstall them from the control panel so I deleted the program files.

But they are still showing up in the control panel. When I try to uninstall them it says "The specified module cannot be found."

It's a PC running Windows 7.

Please can anyone help? Do I need to buy some anti-malware and if so, what?

Thank you from a very grateful cheese Smile

Try downloading CCleaner from here www.piriform.com/ccleaner - it's a well regarded piece of software and you can google it first to check its reputation if you wish.

Once you've installed it, go to tools, then uninstall. You can then select the program you want to remove and it will do it for you. If you get rid of a bunch of stuff, it's worth running the registry clean-up, which will get rid of associated files you no longer need, and the cleaner itself, which can free up a bunch of space for you. Run it in analyze mode first and it will give you a list of what it will delete, so you can check it before running it for real. It will probably take you around 30 mins start to finish.

I use it regularly because DS likes to download weird minecraft add ons which inevitably come with some crapware which never wants to be removed easily.

I've managed to pay for malware bytes and now I'm on the phone to an agent who wants remote access to my computer. Is this ok????

I use the CCcleaner that EasyFromNowOn mentions too, and it works really well.

I also like it as it is very very very easy to use which is perfect for a non techy like me

It's to activate the software. What a hassle.

Woah. OP. MalwareBytes is free (inc premium for 2 weeks) You shouldn't need to phone anyone or give anyone remote access to your computer!

And the agent guy can't remote access.

Sad I couldn't get premium because of the malware. I got the basic. It gave me a free scan then said it was £20.

I've hung up on the guy on the phone and am going to ring my bank to cancel the debit card transaction.

Will try the other site now.

I don't think he got remote access. Fuck. If it was a scam it was amazingly good. I am not a total idiot (but obviously still an idiot).

The malware kept on hijacking the screen when I tried to get premium, so I tried the basic.

I've investigated. I've bought from a legitimate website but the page telling me to phone to activate it was fake. So I called a fake number and that was the guy trying to access my computer. He failed (probably through luck than anything else), I got suspicious and hung up.

I can't use CCleaner either, the malware is interfering with that site too. It's like it knows it's under threat. I can use other websites more easily.

I think I will have to go to an actual shop and buy it.

Everytime I download something to get rid of the malware it simply introduced more malware. I spent many hours on google identifying the actual steps to get rid, rather than the sales bollox of downloading more crap.
