Sky box being unreliable

In recent weeks I have had to reset the Sky + box multiple times. It's done odd things like not pausing on playback; the occasional arbitrary long recording (1000 min and more) of a 90 min programme; sometimes thinks it's 100% full. I use subtitles, these sometimes disappear temporarily, sometimes they are there till I've fast-forwarded a couple of times, then they're gone.

It's currently rebooting, I had to watch yesterday's My Kitchen Rules Australia including the adverts and am hoping it captured today's episode OK.

It's an old box (with some recordings I'd like to keep); but some sky forums seem to indicate there might be software issues?

Phone Sky ,tell them the problems you are having and get a new box? They don't last for ever. We're on our second TiVo box (Virgin) as the hard drive on the last one eventually failed.

I'm having the same problem, have to keep turning it off and on at the wall, so annoying! Wish I knew what to do with it. Worried it's going to konk out altogether Hmm

cancel sky and buy a freesat box unless you watch lots of sky subscription channels!

Ideally there's some recorded stuff I'd like to keep. My TV addictions atm are MKRA (see above) on Sky Living, and Irish Paint Magic on Irish TV. Also BBC Radio. I love my Sky box (which seems to have recovered for the time being...) I'll see what Sky has to say, I think.

get a used box from ebay, it will be cheaper than buying one from sky, you could always try rebuilding the planner first but it sounds like it has seen better days
