I need a new router, so was looking into them, and found Virgin give them to barious of their customers. I rang them up.

Apparently, since April, my bb contract with Virgin was given to TalkTalk. I knew Virgin weren't happy to hang onto virgin.net people and they probably sent me an email telling me they were doing stuff, but I'm not very happy. And I don't understand.

Dh, dd and I all have virgin.net addresses which still work.

I was about to look into Virgin tv, but now I don't know what to do. If I switch to virginmedia.com, I'll lose the virgin.net address, and dh says he can't lose his.

I got an email a couple of years ago saying something about IMAP and POP, and I did something or other, and nothing much changed Grin No I can't remember the details, it really was years ago.

AFAIK, TalkTalk have not sent me any info at all.

I would ring them up, but I don't want to draw attention! If they don't hear from us they may forget we're here and just let everything carry on as it is.

But I still need a new router!

You have either 10 months or 90 days to change addresses

If an email address is important you should create your own domain through a company (I use 1and1) which provides me with 100 email addresses and I can swap internet providers without losing my address.

It is important. DH is like the journalist in the linked article with hundreds, maybe thousands of contacts all over the world. We've had our .net addresses since the late 90s, and keeping them is the only thing which has kept us with Virgin all these years.

I guess we're losing them now, whether we like it or not.

Who's the best provider these days? Zen used to be good, do you know if they still are?

We've just had big upheaval, as our router died last night, and it's taken until now to get ourselves back online. Sigh.
