Bloody Bing search bar - does anyone know how to get rid?

Brand new PC running Windows 8.1 and Firefox is my preferred browser - where I always used to have a Google search bar I now how a Bing search bar which I don't like and don't want. I have Googled until I'm bog eyed for ways to remove it - so much conflicting advice and the ways I've tried have resulted in precisely no results. I don't want to pretend it's not there - I actually want it to not be there. It doesn't appear in programs and features so I can't uninstall it. In settings I've selected all the No Bing options but it's still there.
I realise I may be sounding hysterical now but that's because I am! Can anyone help or advise where to look? Thanks Smile

Here's how you can change that:
In the search bar, there is a small arrow to the right of the search icon (magnifying glass)
Click the arrow and then select “Manage Search Engines”
Select the search provider you prefer.
Click on 'Set as Default' button.

I googled and found this. It's been a while since I used a PC, I use a mac, but basically you just have to change your default search engine.

Alternatively, go to Firefox add-ons, and uninstall the bing add on if its an actual separate bar thing

Thank you - those are both suggestions I already tried from Googling. It would appear that Bing is deeply embedded with Microsoft and is regarded as a malicious redirect virus by some! I shall keep Googling - there must be an answer!
