Xbox 360 purchases within games

My Ds got the xbox 360 at christmas time with a live account.

He's playing a game that seems very easy to buy coins to add extra characters to the game. Is there a way I can turn off purchases?

I can only see a setting to add a password to turn off or on the live account.
This game only works when connected to his live profile.

Did you get an answer to this? We're just setting up ds's xbox live now and can't find a way to disable in app purchases.

They don't make it easy do they?
