Mobile contract upgrade question.

My phone/contract is due to be upgraded in a few weeks, and is currently through a networks store.

I have seen a good deal with the same network for the phone I want, but through Car Phone Warehouse.

Can I upgrade through CPW, or only through the network store I have my current contract through?

I'm guessing the network store is someone like Vodafone... You may be able to upgrade, but surely the easiest option is to go to CPW and ask.

The only 'problem' network I can think of is likely to be Three, as they went their own way last summer and stopped paying commission (via Quidco and TopCashBack) when they massively dropped their pricing model for both PAYG (to 3p, 2p, 1p) and contracts on SIM only deals (One Plan dropped 40% price wise, no change in allowances) and phones.

Good luck (and being nosy, what's the deal you found, as someone else might be interested!)

Just take care that your original contract definitely will end and that the new contract says in writing what you want it to. Beware any verbal promises of " of course you can tether" or " of course you can upgrade early"

Think about a sim only if you don't absolutely need a new phone. This and buying the phone outright is usually the cheaper option

NetworkGuy Samsung Galaxy s5 on O2 Unlimted calls and texts and 1gb data, £5 cheaper than through O2 shop itself. Doesn't sound a lot but ends up being a saving £120 over 24 months, and as it's both mine and other half wanting the same thats £240.
Will go in and ask. If I can't I'll ask O2 if they will price match it.

Definitely worthwhile as those costs certainly mount up! Thanks for the info.

As Theas18 says, sometimes worth buying a phone outright rather than get the contract, but obviously depends on the phone. My next is more likely to cost just 150-200 (4G version of Motorola Moto G, though Moto X is tempting, or one of the "older" {but late 2013/early 2014} Sony Xperia models).

Just to update:

Went into CPW yesterday and they said yes I can upgrade through them, aslong as it's not a business contract. Smile
