Btconnect email account on outlook 2013

Hi,

Hoping for a bit of help setting up my new laptop.

I have been using a btconnect email account for many years with few problems. I now have a new computer which is running windows 8 and uses outlook 2013. I have managed to get the incoming server working by changing the port to 995 but I cannot get the outgoing server to respond. I am using port 465 as I read somewhere but no luck.

Does anyone have any ideas what the setting should be please?

Thanks!

Pretty sure it's port 587 for the outgoing?

Ah. Ok well let me check and I will get back to let you know!

Fingers crossed!

Oh, should it be SMTP.outlook.com?

Thanks for the reply

It's def SMTP, but can't remember where the dots go!

I know the step by step info is on the BT website as that's where I got it from, but that was at work and can't access just now - but you should be able to track it down if 587 doesn't do the trick.

Good luck!

Have found it!

I think incoming should be outlook.office365.com and outgoing smtp.office365.com.

Fingers crossed!

Got it! I am not using 365 but that is a small change.

Thanks so much for your help!

Excellent!

Glad to help - I am as non-techy as they come but had to sort this recently at work and it took forever and drove me crackers, so is imprinted on my brain Grin

Ace! Rather embarrassingly I am a bit geeky techy so I was totally stumped when I couldn't get it working. Now tested it and all is working.

Superb

Haha! Glad you got it working.

And you are the only witness to my first (and probably last) post on Geeky Stuff Grin
