New iPad mini - have to log in to mumsnet, Facebook every time.

It won't save my username or password on anything. Took it to the apple store, he altered it in my settings but it's still happening.
Anyone know what I can do?

Could you use Apps instead of Safari, Mumsnet and Facebook both have iPad apps.

Just looked at my Safari settings on iPad Mini. Mine keeps logged in to Mumsnet, so maybe try seeing where your settings differ.

Go to Settings (grey cog icon), Safari (in the list on the left).

In Passwords & AutoFill, I have
Use Contact Info (off)
Names and Passowords (on)
Credit Cards (on)

Under Saved Passwords pushing the > you will see what it is saving. Mine lists www.mumsnet.com

Back in the General page, under Privacy & Security I have the following
Do Not Track (off)
Block Cookies - From Thrid Parties and Advertisers
Fraudulent Website Warning (on)

On the Login Page (will take you back to this thread) you need to make sure there is a Tick in the Keep Me Logged in box. With luck Safari will ask if it should store the password, give it permission to do so.

For the Facebook App try:

Settings, scroll down the list on the left until you find Facebook
Enter in your username and password and click Sign In.

If still no joy, then try

Settings, General, Restrictions, Disable Restrictions.

Now try logging in to various sites.

WARNING: Your iPad can now be used to buy things, InApp purchases. So once things seem to be staying logged in, go back to General, Restrictions, and reenable restrictions you had, especially In-App Purchases (to stop you and children spending money very easily).

Another thing to check, what version of iOS?

Settings, General, Software Update.
Current version on my iPad Mini is iOS 7.1.2

Thanks so much.
I've gone into software update, it says iOS 7.1.2 no update needed.
In password and auto fill on safari I have everything on. On my saved password it only has my online banking user name saved but I have been clicking on keep me logged in box on everything.
Will try the other things now.

I wonder if iCloud is doing something...

Settings, iCloud

Check that Safari shows on (green with white circle to the right)
Check that Keychain shows Off (I think this is something that stores passwords across multiple devices. For now you just want it to work on the iPad, so have that Off).

Such a pain when things won't remember the details.

The keychain was off but when I took it to the apple store he said it should be on. So it hasn't worked with it off and on. It is a pain but thanks for your help.
Will have to go back to the store which is another pain as it's an hour away!

Going back to the store does not sound as though it will fix the problem. They did not solve it last time.

Is it still happening when using the Mumsnet App and Facebook App?

You could try resetting Location & Privacy.

Settings, General, Reset, Reset Location & Privacy.

Then go to Safari and see if it will save the password when you enter it on Mumsnet. Does it give the prompt for Save Password?

What happens if you go to Facebook.com in Safari, enter username and password, tick the box to stay logged in... Does Safari display a box requesting it saves the password?

What colour is the background of Safari? Is it a dark grey? If so then Private Browsing is enabled.

In Safari, click the + to open a new page.
At the bottom left corner it will say the word: Private
Click on that.
If it says something like "Would you like to close your existing tabs before turning off Private Broswing? Open tabs will no longer be private." then select Keep All.
Now the background of Safari should be a light grey.

Now try Mumsnet.com login.

I had this on my iPad, it drove me mad. What worked was:

Log out of mumsnet on all devices
Close all apps
Go into settings, make sure block cookies is set to never
Clear browsing history and cookies
Hard reset the iPad
Try again.

If this doesn't work, try repeating the steps above but requesting a password reset.

Yeah Nannynick I think you've cracked it. I clicked on the private box on safari. Safari wasn't displaying the box asking to save password but it has now.
Thanks so much we got there in the end.

Great, hope that solves it, at least for Safari.
