Best laptop for £350

Help! I need something for watching films, browsing the internet & doing work- I'm a teacher so do spend quite a lot of time on word, publisher & PowerPoint, nothing super high tech though obviously. Would really appreciate any advice, so clueless!

I have found that Dell, Acer, Toshiba, do reasonable laptops around that price and can be picked up immediately from some supermarkets.

Not sure on the difference between the processors, noticed some have a Pentium B960 others have an I3.
Comparison between I3-3227U and Pentium B960 - still none the wiser. I think the I3 is a little better, certainly newer.

Ram... more the merrier. 6GB better than 4GB. Would not go for less than 4GB.

Hard drive... these days not sure it matters a great deal. Manufacturers will have installed something suitable I expect.

Screen size and weight may be factors - if you intend it to use it on the move.

Toshiba Satelite Pro L830-17T looks ok but is top of your price. There are laptops cheaper which may have smaller screen, older processor.

Remember that Microsoft Office is costly. New PCs have Windows8 so old versions of Office may not run. Can you get educational discount?

Also have a look at second hand/reconditioned laptops. You can get a lot more bang for your buck that way (obviously buy from somewhere reputable)

And Open Office is reasonably compatible with Microsoft Office and is free.
