Rwargh - iTunes, my iPhone and dd's iPod

Hello - v grateful to anyone who can help.

DD got a new 4th gen iPod Touch for her b-day. I wanted her to be able to listen to the songs that I'd bought via iTunes for her before we got the iPod, so when we took it out of the box I plugged it into my MacBook and registered it as an iPod belonging to me. Can't remember the exact option I chose but I think it was 'back up from woeface's iPhone'.

Anyway all was good - she's got the music I've previously purchased on her behalf through her iPod Touch headphones, I didn't have to listen to quite so much TingTings.

BUT I've just discovered I can't text her or FaceTime her from my iPhone - presumably because iTunes sees that as FaceTiming/texting myself and thinks that's ... I dunno, psychopathic?

Has anyone been through this and come out the other side? Is there any way for dd to have access to the music, but also to be able to text and FT me and vice versa?

TIA

I don't think so because they're linke on the same account so you'd effectively be texting yourself an you can't FaceTime yourself...

I think this is to do with the email address rather than anything else.

Go to settings and change the iCloud account and see if it works?

Thanks both - RhondaJean what should I change the iCloud account to tho? Would I need to set up an email account for dd (she's 8). And if I do that, would it still let me synch with iTunes ?

You can create her an email account and use that as her face time account. You will still be able to synch it with your instance of iTunes.

Create an email id for her on hotmail for example (it will give her an @outlook address) and then activate her face time account on her iPod touch using that,

Argh DH is working or he would know. Yes set up a different email account, I am almost certain you can still sync to your iTunes, I am sure DH does with dd1s iPods and iPad.

I'm not completely certain this will work btw but it's something along those lines you need to do.

oh brill - so not the iCloud account but the facetime account? I can't see Facetime account in settings though...

And will this allow us to text each other?

v grateful everyone, I like to think of myself as not particularly crap at this stuff but I know in my heart..

argh the bastarding bastard.
It won't let me change the icloud info. My apple id (ie my email address) is greyed out, and the only email options are my icloud address or .me address (can't remember ever setting these up).

I've made her a gmail account and added - but when I try and facetime from my iphone (via her email address) it says 'dd is not avail to facetime'.
