My iPad has sunstroke!

My (mini) iPad has just overheated and given me a warning on the screen that it needed to "cool down" before I could use it again. It's working again now.

Never seen this before, and I've used it in hot countries before!

I'm in the UK, was sat in my back garden having lunch, admittedly in the full sun (I am wearing sunscreen and a hat). Not at all something I tend to do.

Do iPhones do this too? I have heard of server rooms needing air con and having problems if they overheat, but never this.

I wonder, could this be a way to stop people over sunning themselves - get the devices to shut themselves off after x amount of time in the sun?

Clever old iPad!

Our iPads get it very quickly in the Middle East, resorted to a Kindle for beach holiday reading! Cold also has an effect, DS iPhone fails in -15c in Canada !

Yep my iphone got this last year, I left it sat on an outdoor windowsill for a while and when I went to pick it up it was really hot, looked at the screen and it said it was too hot and needed to cool down.
