How do I stop my phone talking to me?

Wandering through settings I thought it would be fun to get my phone to talk to me Confused yes, I know Blush

The talkings not the problem, but it wont let me scroll down anywhere and particularly in the settings to turn it off. I'm sure its user error as I didnt listen to all the tutorial, but did hear 'swipe up and down to read word/sentence/paragraph'. So thats what it does when I scroll Sad.

Its a clone of a samsung galaxy S3 and apart from the GPS not working its very good. Any ideas?

Probably best explain exactly what make and model it is so we can perhaps find instructions, or see if someone has the same...

I know (because I was trying to find a 'read PDF file out loud' app) that there isn't a default 'read out words / sentences / paragraphs' facility in any of my Android phones (5 or more different models) so it's not on any of my 'Settings' menus as far as I can imagine (else no need to download an App!).

{ PS if it is any consolation, last time I used GPS for something, I got off the bus quite a distance from where I thought I should have been... so it was either the fact I was in the bus, or poor software or something else, so don't be too harsh on your GPS unless it really does put you in another county/ country... Oh, and my sister's iPhone had us visible driving across fields, nowhere near the roads we were on, in 2011/2012, so don't assume they are much better!! }

My phone is a DMX Haipai dual sim s3 i9377 www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00A78GYJQ/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1&tag=mumsnet&ascsubtag=mnforum-21
My daughter has a galaxy s3 so ill check hers. Problem is I'm forgetting what settings I altered. Shock

I can't reset to factory settings, last time I did that on a Chinese phone, it went all Chinese and I couldn't reset as I don't read Chinese!

I'll dig out the manual to see if it says anything.

This isn't an app and it reads everything on the page, I just don't want it, it's driving me mad! Kicking myself.....

Gah... hope someone can assist who has more tech knowledge than me...

I found a site in German which is for a different model (only 1 camera at the back) but have not yet found any user guide (and in truth, think it may be the caseyour only way to find this is by going through all the settings options section by section, however long it takes (sorry).

Phone spec seems pretty good to me (I really would like a few dual-SIM phones to cope with the number of SIMs I am using) and at a reasonable price... Fingers crossed for you.

I did try the settings options but it would not scroll down or across on ANY screen. So I could not get back to the voice input and output selection as it was below the screen iyswim. Anyhow I have just managed to scroll...it was a 2 finger swipe job which I found out by experimenting. Phew!

I did turn text to speech on my DDs real S3 but couldn't turn it off again, although her scroll wasn't stuck!

But at least I now have access to all my settings so I will find the turn it off button eventually. Then I'll do my daughters too as the talking phone is annoying her too Blush

It is a nice phone btw Smile
