Hi there, I need some mumsnet phone wisdom or at least a prod in the right direction please.

I currently have a blackberry on a virgin contract which is basically £15 a month but I always spend way more on expensive calls - £100 this month alone!

My contract ends in October time, what kinds of deals should I look out for? More talk time is a must and I'd kind of like an iphone but am open to suggestions. Is there a site where you can plug in your average usage and it will point you in the right place to look for good deals? What do I need to bear in mind?

Thanks in advance for any replies, it's a phone minefield out there!!

Should say, don't really want to spend much more than £30 a month if at all poss!

What sort of calls are generating the £100 bills? Are you calling internationally, or calling premium rate numbers (e.g. The Voice voting), or calling 0845 numbers? Or are they just standard calls to other mobiles and fixed line numbers but you have used up your allowance of minutes for month?

Thank you for your reply. I just got of the phone to Virgin to work all this out. Current deal is £9.99 per month for only 150 mins to other network, 3000 to virgin 250 texts and 500mb data. Am using hardly any data and stay within texts, but calls over 150mins are charged at 40p a min!! They took £20 of my current bill after I moaned, but now i'm thinking to shop about. Virgin said I could have an upgrade and I wondered if they would price match other deals. My current contract runs out Nov 3rd.
Thanks again for your reply!
