How do I put a Pinterest button on my new laptop with Windows 8

I'm a frustrated Pinterest addict. I cannot pin on my new laptop. Please tell me how to install the Pin it button. I have tried dragging the button. It says drag onto toolbar but as I don't know where that is on this new fangled machine I'm getting nowhere. Help me please!!!!!

I t6oo have windows 8 and it has caused me so many problems,my brother bought me a book to help me so I will look and see if I can find the solution to your question.[ ps I hate windows 8 ]

The laptop is so nice and shiny but Windows 8 is a pain in the you know where! That would be very kind of you to check your book.

Also, do you know why I keep jumping paragraphs while I'm typing? I'm a touch typist and I'll look up at the screen and see I've started typing in the middle of the last paragraph. It's bizarre!

Cant see it in the book but I think if you go to bottom of your screen and right click you may have the option to pin your prog there. I am going to have a look and see

right the book says this " go to the site you want to pin to the start scree. right click click the page tools button.click view on the desktop .that is for websites

For games it says download the game and then on start screen type the app name, right click the app and then click " pin to start on the toolbar that appears.


sorry I cant be more help im afraid the whole thing is confusing and I have gone back to using my old slow computer !

I was not able to get it to work on Win 8 either using IE. But I installed the extension on Chrome and it works fine. So install Chrome (it is a metro app) and then install the "Pin it" extension, which puts a little button that allows you to pin from the internet in Win 8. HTH.

I know this is an old thread, but I just came across it while searching for how to add a PinIt button in Internet Explorer 10 on Windows 8. I really like about 90% of Windows 8, and I really like the app version of Internet Explorer 10, but this kind of thing disappoints me. I think the problem is that the "metro" version of IE10 (the one you access from the Start screen) disables all add ins, and therefore won't run extra bits of code like a PinIt button. I think this is a big mistake by Microsoft and I hope they will rectify it.

I didn't realise you could get Chrome as a metro app. Off to check that out right now!

You can also pin from within Pinterest without a Pin button. Click on the + button next to your user name, go to Add from Website, paste in the url, click Find Images and select the image you want to pin. A bit of a faff but it can be done. HTH.

If you go to your Pinterest page, go to Help on your profile page, go to Getting started basics, there is a place to click on the Pin It button. If you click on it it takes you to Install the button.The button then will appear up by the Bookmark symbol

After 11 months of HATING Windows 8, I somehow found your post. It took about 20 minutes of cussing, nearly crying and definitely arguing with my DH who caused all of these things by gifting me with an unwanted laptop last Christmas - BUT, I was finally able to somehow get the PINTEREST icon into my apps and then pinned onto my task bar. BLESS YOU for saying how to do it. Maybe you have been able to do if for yourself since you posted. THANK YOU!

I'm so glad I read many of your comments today ( I was unsuccessful and previously didn't even realise I had to drag something to the favourites bar )... my computer must be so stubborn because nothing worked again... UNTIL I went to my Pinterest page and out of curiosity I decided to DRAG the "P" icon, at the top left , to my favourites tab... IT WORKED !!! I can pin again ; I don't have the icon tho, but I don't mind. I have a Pin it option on my laptop ...I'm back in business baby lol. I hope this helps someone else get that stubborn little button on the computer ?
