Advice please - Kicking my HP into the long grass and getting an Apple

I already have an Apple MacBook Air for mobile work as a driving instructor - movie replay etc. I'm a total Apple convert.

My long serving HP Pavilion Slimline is now seriously creaking.
AMD Athlon 64 x2 Dual Core Processor 5000+ / 2.6 GHz ; 3GB RAM
Comments / pros / cons on an Apple Mini & peripherals please.

Performance has priority over price (within reason). I have access to a small Apple store discount via a professional association.

I tend to multi-task: Internet, Mail, Word, Excel (big graphic worksheets), PPT presentations, Picture Manager and will be making more Movies/Quicktime Pro

Will be using a Samsung monitor/TV with HDMI connection (already used with the laptop) but need to get some Apple-dedicated hard drives as the existing ones are PC configured and 'read-only' to the Apple.

Thank you in advance.
