Photo collaging app for imac??

I'm looking for a good photo editing/collaging app for an imac.

I'd like to be able to do a bit more than iPhoto offers - e.g. make collages, add captions (but in nice fonts/boxes/colours) and that kind of thing.

Can anyone recommend a free or cheap-ish app? Guessing this is the kind of thing Photoshop Elements does, but it's around £54 to buy and I'd like to try something similar first to see if I would actually use it Xmas Smile

Comic life is fun. Photos with captions. But it essentially makes comics so I'm not sure it would be what you're looking for.

Try turbocollage for the mac. You should be able to find it in the App Store. I got it for free but they now charge for it. I think it's about a fiver.

I use it occasionally and it's great. Simple but does the job.

Thanks. Thinking about it, I'm starting to wonder if I want something that will edit the photos too - kind of like instagram i.e. adding filters, borders etc as well as adding captions/text.

Am I going to have to invest in Photoshop? It's a lot...

If you are considering Photoshop elements use the trial first. If I remember rightly, elements can be a bit limiting compared to the full photoshop package if you are planning on doing collages; depends on what your needs are.

You might want to have a look at GIMP (stands for GNU Image Manipulation Program and isn't rude! You can safely google search for it, if you make sure you put apple or macintosh in the search terms).

I like GIMP for photo editing. Does pretty much everything Photoshop can do. Picassa is free to download and easy for making collages, cards etc.
