Would anyone be kind enough to give me an activation code?

I would love to buy this as I'm doing my HND in IT and Business Info Technology but I'm financially broke.

Hence doing and HND so I can get some qualifications to back up 20 years experience and finally be considered for a job!!!

TIA

20 years of IT experience and you are asking for someone to just give you a code online so you can 'steal' software? Seriously?

If you are broke then use OpenOffice or if you prefer the look/feel of MS Office then use Kingsoft Office I use the latter and haven't looked back.

OpenOffice

Sorry niceguy, I am not asking for theft here, some people have a version that they can use for many PC's/laptops, I actually have Word on my PC but it has broken down and again, I cannot afford to have it repaired right now.

Thanks anyway I will go with open office.

Sorry that's not quite correct. For those who have bought a retail copy of Office 2010 (not OEM or volume). Ie. you bought it from a shop/website rather than bundled with your computer. Then the license is that you can install one copy on the PRIMARY device (ie the machine you use most) and one copy on a PORTABLE device (ie laptop or netbook) for the use of the owner of the Primary device.

You cannot install on two machines used by two different people.

Try Kingsoft. I liked it better than Openoffice.

Thank you, generally I work in offices and Word is all set up for me and ready to go.

Sadly due to numerous reasons I have not worked within an office for 2 years, so really need my qualifications as there are 99+ people going for the same advertised positions as me. I will save up and buy Word for Students but will have a look at your recommendations tomorrow.

Sadly this laptop has Works and my other has Vista. No offence meant and thank you for your advice.

I believe there are sites through which students can get a discounted , if more limited, version of ms office.

QuiteQuiet · 19/11/2012 08:47

Thank you both. I erm.. may do one of them Blush

Failing that the student set up it £89, so I can save £10 a week and rush through some assignments, and stay up for 2 weeks Grin

I have Microsoft word starter but it's not enough, I have to keep googling things I know....it doesn't have enough buttons, such as HOME!

MS 2010 is very different, using tabs and ribbons not drop down menus, and home isn't as you might have been used to in 2003 so am sceptical as to whether you in fact need a fuller version or just a tutorial in 2010 - lots of libraries offer this . btw I'm talking about a genuine version (think it may only be Word, Excel and possibly PP) for about £35

All copies of Windows are 'genuine' so the libraries should be there. It's not as if someone in China is churning out imitation Windows. What people do is they hack the part of the code that looks for the activation code.

I am used to working with Word 2007 and 2010, sadly they are bothon my PC, which isn't working and that £180 to fix, even though my son tells me you can buy it for £19 on ebay. Hmm

So that leave this laptop with Microsoft Office 2010, but I need a product key, I will do some googling and see what I can find prices wise and otherwise.

Failing that I will give up and go work in a shop.

What I sugested wasnt illegal, just a work round, however without knowing about a recovery partition it might not have worked anyway or are you suggesting what was on the now deleted message.

I found a cheaper option, £69, I think I will lose my Sky+, maybe take my car off the road for a while and buy the real deal and have it done with. Smile

Thanks again.

I use Open Office. It's crap. Save up and get MS Office 2010.

I think you can only buy packages of programmes now, not individual ones as in the earlier releases.

QuiteQuiet · 21/11/2012 08:19

I'm going to do some googling just now and see what I can find, I can honestly say I have never been as stressed out over a disc as I am right now Grin

this one

or

this is cheaper

I am waiting on the 2nd one getting back to me but I am now 3 weeks behind and very slightly impatient, so am buying one today, so my question now is:

Are these both okay for a Lifebook A Series Laptop (Fujitsu) I cannot work with the trial any longer, I have recently moved house, I have 4 telephone sockets, none work... some man has put all these phone lines, another man has built a wall, then another man has came and hammered a nail into all these phone lines so the internet connection I am using right now, almost hanging out my window using a wifi hotspot which is not great.

I get cut off 10 times daily......and my back is in agony.

Any help greatly appreciated, thank you. Smile
