According to Geeky Gadgets (nothing to do with me!) posted "Friday 2nd November 2012 8:51 am" :-

"The iPad 4 features the same Retina Display as the iPad 3, but it now comes with a faster A6X processor and also Apple?s new lightning dock connector, it is available from today in Apple? stores in the UK, US and other countries."

If they tell you a date, or that you can buy it now, please let us know.

Yes I phoned apple and the man said he knows the mini is out but doesn't know about the ipad 4.

I though being from Apple he would know for sure!

Thanks. Maybe an Apple Store (if there is one near you) would be more solid with 'Yes, come buy one' or 'Due in from xx November' (?)

Probably worth a phone call to whichever is nearest, as you will still be wanting to know whether it could be bought before Christmas, and the 0800 chap was too vague to be useful on that score!

Released, in UK ? I suppose if you can see the spec says it's the A6X processor inside, it might prove it's the newest, but the fools at Apple have called 3rd and 4th versions 'New iPad' without anything easy to clarify which is which.

Some stores will still sell the iPad 3 at same price as newest iPad, whereas Apple reduced price I think, so not obvious from price in other stores. Someone asked about a web site showing 'new iPad' and 'iPad 3' at same prices, and I suggested they were the same devices. Maybe I was wrong and the web site was taking advantage.

It's something of a shock that when you rang Apple you didn't get a prompt and clear answer! Maybe he was flummoxed by you calling it iPad 4 ?
