I am a "soft butch" (i.e 37 yo tomboy)!! I have not worn a skirt since school, and heels even longer!! My wife and I have been invited to a straight friends "Glitz & Glamour" party, and I am freaking about what to wear. I was thinking of doing it in a "Glam rock" style, not sure if this is appropriate though, as its not a fancy dress party. Or do I succumb to my inner butch and dress in a tuxedo, and "drag up"?
I don't want to feel uncomfortable all night, and want to be able to enjoy myself.

Tricky!!! Now, if you were really lucky and the world was a perfect place you would have a friend who is the same size as you and who has a two piece bridesmaid dress that you could borrow. Wear the lovely girly top half with a pair of really good tailored trousers and whatever shoes you want. That way you aren't a million miles out of your comfort zone but you look just the job. Just for interest, what is your wife planning to wear?

I think you should drag us in a tux, grease back your hair, go a little Greta Garbo...
I'm seriously considering that Hester....that would be so cool. Not sure where you get a tux to fit a woman from though?

A year or so ago Diva magazine ran an interview with a butch who was starting a new business selling suits/tuxes cut to fit dykes. I'm afraid I can't remember her name at all, but there must be others out there.
I've just seen my spelling mistake - obviously I meant 'drag up' not 'drag us' (images of squealing lesbos being dragged into the party...
