How to attach screening? Idiot's guide please!

Hi all,

I'm finally in the process of making our garden into a useable space after 3.5 years in our property as this is the first year that our DCs - DS1 (now 2.4) and DS2 (7 months) - can make good use of it during the summer. Have planted some nice pots and re-did the decking (washed and re-treated/painted it!). Ordered some screening and now need some advice as to how to best attach the screening. We are basically a terrace in the middle of three. We have a very small garden; half of it is elevated and the other half ground level to our living room. The back half (the elevated half) has some wooden fencing. The nearer half is separated from our neighbours by a waist-height metal railing, this is the bit I want to screen off. I've bought reed fencing and there are already hooks on the side of the wooden fence and also on the external brick wall that we can use to fasten the screening to (the previous owners had screening as well). Also, on one side of the garden, there is a 'well' (downstairs bedroom window) so the screening will need to be cut off on the bottom so the top half can be attached to the wall. Can anyone tell me what I can use to fasten the screening to the wall? Also, will I need to fasten the screening along the railing as well? Cable ties and strong garden wire have been suggested so far... Any ideas? Thanks!

Ax

For fixing to the wall you could use nails or the loop fixings you use for clipping phone lines to walls.

For the railings, try flexible wire.
