Does a box hedge smell of cat wee?! If so what else could I use?

Am thinking about planting a low hedge (c 1-2feet high) under my front room windows. But I think (from a friend) that they smell of cat wee. Which would be most unpleasant since we have cats, so the smell would drive me insane - I am already paranoid about our (sometimes) stinky house!

If so, what else could I plant that is formal and evergreen? It's to go under a bay window.

Thanks

We inherited a box hedge when we moved to our current house. It didn't last very long because, yes it does stink of cat pee. I'm also on the lookout for something to replace it so will watch with interest.

I agree that Box smells just like cat pee, has never been allowed in my garden!
Yew is a good evergreen option and easy to clip.

No! There must be something wrong with me, I love the smell of box. Honestly, I hanker after a nicely cliped box hedge just for the smell.

Never had a cat and and not aquainted with the smell of cat wee

That Lonicera looks perfect! Will try and find one to have a sniff at a garden centre this weekend

BTW have you been waiting for hedge related questions, Lonicera, or did you name change just for this?!

Also, has anyone used and can recommend one of these online hedging companies? Garden centre way too expensive for a hedge!

lisbey - if you had 2 cats who were bullied in their previous home and took to weeing everywhere indoors, the smell would never ever leave your nose.
Apparently box has a very 'sensuous musky' smell. So quite normal to like it!!!

Another option is Ilex crenata

Which on line hedging nurseries were you looking at?
