Can I grow veg in those rubber garden/laundry "trug" things?

Well they were growing tomatoes in one on cbeebies yesterday so I guess so

Yeah like bendy rubber basket with handles. They're dead cheap compared to similar sized hard plastic planters! Having said that, I've just realised my toddler will land on it and crush the veg, so I'll have to scrap that idea! Bloomin kids.

I have veg growing in various tubs.
Including an old wheelbarrow with lettace and broccoli in and 2 old wellies hung on the wall with strawberry plants in. Mice (or something) was eating them just as they started to ripen.)

Good ideas! I have a large number of plastic boxes (fromm moving) which I could in theory use as they're about a foot high, but I don't know how to make holes in rigid plastic, if we drilled them they'd probably shatter wouldn't they? I could do with a hot poker lol

Tape placed where drilling can help prevent splitting. Possibly work on plastic boxes too. No holes drilled in the wheel barrow lol!

Or have a bonfire and find a metal pole to make a hot poker.
