I'm new to this veg growing lark and have some good plants going, but I have seeds and would like to grow some more... or is it too late?

What does it say on back of packet? Don't think it's too late. What have you got?

I think you can keep putting things in until June/July in some cases. I have just put some carrots and parsnips and beetroot. I think these seeds are fine for a late crop.

Salads can be planted for succession, as can beans and peas, so these should be fine thoughout the summer.

I am also just starting off some courgette and squash plants, some sweetcorn. It is a little bit late for all of these, and someone might come along and say it is too late for them, but I am taking my chances.

You can also plant second early potatoes at this time of year, if you can get hold of the seed potatoes. There are two or three types I think - I seem to remember Charlotte was OK.

If we get a really poor summer like last year then I might be in for lower yields.

lol it does depend on the seeds!

If you want to plant stuff but it is too late, try looking for early versions of the same plant, as they generally have a short planting-cropping time .

This isn't an infallible method as some plants, like rocket, don't do well in heat (actually they do too well and decide to make seeds, not grow tasty leaves ). But works for things like tomatoes, squash, potatoes etc.

You can still plant things like radishes which are very quick to be ready to eat. Also lettuce of pretty much any kind.
