Question about hardening off...

Veggie garden novice here. Everything is going in pots or troughs so space is precious and I am really trying to maximise yields.

I've just planted out peas and broad beans that I've grown from seed in an unheated but warm greenhouse. Should I have hardened them off first? Have I ruined my first crop???

I shouldn't worry about it too much. The weather hasn't been too cold, which means that the soil ought to be warm enough for your seedlings. If frost or very cold weather is forecast, then worry about protecting seedlings with a fleece or bubble wrap, or similar. Perhaps you could use warm* rain water until they are established.

*Warm = warmer than the water that comes from your tap after it has been running for 20 seconds.

Hope that puts your mind at ease.

PS protect peas and beans from hungry birds!
