Am I too late to plant things outside?

I am brand new at this. I've spent ages digging up a large section of my garden which was weed-covered and neglected and now i want to grow some stuff in it. I don't have a greenhouse and i'm not very good at planning or being organised. I'm tempted to just stick some seeds and some seed potatoes in the ground and see what happens. Is this going to be a waste of time? Am I too late?

Na, never too late. Potatoes and carrots grow all year round.
