containers for pumpkins

Need containers suitable for transplanting pumpkin plants into- have no suitable area directly available in garden. As the pumpkins will get big, I am not sure what sort of container to use-anything too high and the pumpkins will fall out/off.
Thought of grow-bags, but 1)are they big enough? How many could grow in each bag? and 2) grow bags are rather unattractive and 3) how to keep the slugs off the plants to give the plants a chance to grow.

ANy advice appreciated.Has to be a cheap - zero cost even- option. No fancy things to be bought from mail order companies. Functional favoured over prettiness, but see comment re growbags.
Maybe someone has an idea how to disguise a grow bag?

an old bin from the tip (or freecycle), cut down to approx 2ft high and fill with free manure from local horse stables.

you could paint the bin to make it less unattractive but eventually the leaves should cover it...

HTH.
