average cost of cutting down tree?

hello

has anyone paid to have a tree cut down in back garden? Have no idea how much it would cost? thank you!!

we had a odd-job man do ours, quite big sycamore, cost £70.

Depends on the size and type of tree, I imagine.

We paid about £350 to have three lawson cypresses felled - each about 10 metres high. That included removing all the bits and clearing up afterwards.

It took three men a whole day to do it, so it seems a reasonable amount to me. And they had shed-loads of insurance in case something went wrong.

Call a couple of tree surgeons and get quotes. Be wary of odd job men unless it is VERY straightforward with no risk of anyone else's property getting damaged. We are next to a school play ground, so I wasn't prepared to take that risk.
