We have 1/4 acre 'lawn' (messy grass, very bumpy and slopey - not the manicured type). We inherited the mower with the house - self-propelled petrol rotary type..but it is on it's last legs (has a hole in the casing so the cuttings don't get collected and we have lost a bolt that holds the handle on).
I think we need to buy something similar but have no idea about which brands are good.
Help please!

Hayter used to be good - Dad has one, and recommended by former gardener but that was a VERY long time ago. Always had problems getting Mountfields to start. Of course, might not even exist now! They are green, if that helps.

Thanks Fossil. I sent dh out to the shed to see what we have at the moment - It's a Honda....he turned it over to measure the blade and eeeeeek! found 2 rat corpses embedded in the cuttings under the mower casing. He thinks that they must have been caught by our cats and then left on the (overgrown) lawn and I've run them over with the mower.
