I've been given 9 of these plants which were tiny and after 3 weeks they're about 5 inches tall. They're in tiny pots. When do they need potting on and when can they go out? Oh, and do they need to be in one pot each outside and what size should that pot be? PHEW!

Get to your nearest garden centre and buy some growbags. Explain your request to a member of staff (the older the better in my experience) they are often full of knowledge. The growbags and tomatoes generally need regular watering once the fruit set. So set them up somewhere close to a water source. 9 plants seems like plenty. if they all get going, you'll have to read up on your italian recepies.

I think its normal to go from a 3" pot into a 5" pot (which would buy you a little time) but unless you have a greenhouse, they are best to end up in a growbag maybe against a south facing wall.

I put my seedlings in a 3" and then into a 5" and then in the greenhouse, so havn't used the grobag but if i had less space i would.

They may tell you in the garden centre to go straight to growbag. Don't forget to stake them if you do.

Thanks for the advice

I'll put them in bigger pots and keep them in for the time being. I'll investigate growbags when it's a bit warmer.
