I originaly posted this in Chat, but now realise that it would be better in this topic

DH and I aren't green fingered in the slightest, and want a maintenance free garden, but still want to keep some sort of 'grassed' area. A collegue of mine has told me they have just had their lawn laid with Astro Turf.
Now I must confess I thought to myself that astro turf would look awful and not like real grass at all. He has shown me photos and it looks amazing.
I have googled it and it is quite expensive but I dont mind paying if DH and I never had to mow again!!!!

Have any MNetters had astro turf fitted and if so are they happy with the result? Is it ok for kids and dogs ect.

Thanks for reading

Ha ha Custardo, DH and I are the same and I hold my hands up and say that I completely hate gardening in any form, it's just not for me.

I thought that it would be/look really odd but the pics my collegue showed me are amazing, I was really shocked at just how good it looked.

Ha ha, how excellent that you got a nice garden award.
Our was lovely when we first moved in (6 months ago) but now is just overgrown and weedy . I have mowed once and DH has mowed once in 6 months.

I cant (wont) do it now as am 25 weeks pregnant and for this reason I wont bend down and weed, ha ha. I tell DH I cant, ha ha

OOh, the kind of neighbours that have the time and the inclination (sp?) to bother about their gardens, ha ha.
My neighbours are like me and DH, ha, so am lucky there
