Can anyone help me to find where I can buy a clematis called Gwendolin? I know it exists because I've seen it described on the University of Hull website thru' Googling, but they cannot list suppliers and I'm not having much luck on't t'internet so far! I want it for a birthday present for my BIL who lost his Mum of that name last year, a kind of memorial thingy. Any suggestions gratefuly received.. Have been o a couple of local garden centres to ask but no luck yet.

I couldn't find a supplier anywhere either but here is the address of the breeder in Germany:

Baumschule Lothar Sachs / Schling- und Kletterpflanzen
Großstückenweg 10
01445 Radebeul

Tel: 0351-8386908
Fax: 0351-8387053
[email protected]

there is no webpage, but maybe if you write them a mail, they can help.

I can help with a translation into German if it should be necessary, but most Germans speak some English

Good luck.

Mandylifeboats, I can send them a mail and ask if they know a supplier in the UK.
I'm a native German speaker, so it wouldn't take me 5 minutes to do that.
It's a very nice variety btw. I just planted a Clematis cirrhosa var. balearica to climb up a tree in a dull corner of my garden. Bought it at ebay.

Mandy, I've sent a mail. But I'll be away now until Friday night, so I won't be able to tell you about the reply before then.

Mandy, the German grower hasn't replied to me yet. I give him another day or two, and then I send a second mail.

Mandy, sorry I was away over Easter and only got back a few days ago.
The nursery never replied to my email so I finally called them and unfortunately, they don't ship plants (not even in Germany)and they are the only nursery to sell this variety since it's their own breed (is breed the right word for plants ). They would have some at their nursery currently but that doesn't help you.

Sorry, would have liked to help. I hope you find something else nice for your BIL.
